About Me

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Europe Accredited Clinical Supervisor/Consultant working privately since 2016, seeing clients from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and remotely across the world.  I supervise EMDR therapists and therapist from other modalities. I am also an Associate Clinical Tutor at Royal Holloway, University of London, which involves collaborating with various NHS teams. Prior to 2016, I worked for the NHS for 15 years, as well as The Priory Hospital and voluntary organisations.

After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I undertook further specialist therapy training, for example EMDR and DBT training, to increase the number of effective therapy approaches I am able to offer my clients and draw upon in treatment.

I am passionate about the effectiveness of EMDR and the wider practice of EMDR. I am Secretary of the Beds, Bucks, and Herts EMDR Regional Group’s Steering Committee and run regular Research to Practice sessions for the Regional Group’s members.

My doctoral training as a Clinical Psychologist, alongside the additional specialist training I have undertaken, means that I can draw from a number of different psychological therapy models to help you make sense of your difficulties and choose the approach, or combination of approaches, that is most likely to benefit you.

I am committed to helping you find a way to overcome your difficulties, learn ways of coping, and live a fulfilling life, using evidence-based therapy approaches.

Professional Qualifications and Training

After achieving my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, I went on to train extensively in the field of trauma and I am now an EMDR Europe Accredited Clinical Supervisor/Consultant (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing ).

In addition, I have undertaken specialist training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and the use of CBT with specialist/more complex issues, such as trauma/abuse in childhood.

I hold a BPS Approved Certificate in Clinical Supervision.

My doctoral research on goal-setting and positive psychology was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and I have a further publication on the area of motivational interviewing in the journal Addiction (under my previous surname).

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of EMDR-UK and Ireland. I have full Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Choosing a Psychologist/ Therapist / Counsellor

There are a wide range of therapies and counselling approaches offered by different practitioners, both in the NHS and privately. This can make it somewhat confusing when it comes to choosing a professional to help you overcome the difficulties you are experiencing. NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) is an organisation that produces guidance for the NHS and private practitioners on effective treatments for different issues.

The link below provides a helpful summary for you to become informed about effective treatments, and choose the type of therapist and therapy that is most likely to help you. You can see all the NICE guidance here  or for an easy-to-view summary, see here.
